Recently India kick-started the roadmap for 5G technology in the country. The Ministry of Telecom permitted 5G trails in India. Permissions to Telecom Service Providers (TSPs) for conducting trials for use and applications of 5G technology. While ultimately banning the Chinese telecom companies to take part in trials due to security concerns. India joins many other powers in the world who have banned the Chinese telecommunications companies due to snooping allegations.

China has warned that this move by India could see furious retaliation and could affect India’s growth story.
Response to media query by Spokesperson of Chinese Embassy Counsellor Wang Xiaojian on Chinese Telecommunications Companies not being permitted by the Indian Government to Conduct 5G Trials in India.
“By excluding Chinese telecoms companies from local 5G trials, not only will India’s legitimate rights and interests be harmed, but India’s business environment will also be hindered,” the Chinese embassy in India said.
The statement further reads:
Q: In a notification issued on May 4th by the Department of Telecommunications, Government of India, Chinese telecommunication companies are not permitted to conduct 5G trials with Indian Telecom Service Providers. What’s your comment?
A: We noted relevant notification, and express concern and regret that Chinese telecommunications companies have not been permitted to conduct 5G trials with Indian Telecom Service Providers in India.
Relevant Chinese companies have been operating in India for years, providing mass job opportunities and making a contribution to India’s infrastructure construction in telecommunications. To exclude Chinese telecommunications companies from the trials will not only harm their legitimate rights and interests but also hinder the improvement of the Indian business environment, which is not conducive to the innovation and development of related Indian industries.
The Chinese side hopes that India could do more to enhance mutual trust and cooperation between the two countries, and provide an open, fair, just, and non-discriminatory investment and business environment for market entities from all countries, including China, to operate and invest in India.
