DRDO Successfully Test-Fired the Hyper-sonic Technology Demonstrator Vehicle

A Huge technological leap forward for India. The Indian Defence Research and Development Organisation(DRDO) today successfully flight tested the indigenous development Hypersonic Technology Demonstrator Vehicle.

In today’s test, India has tested the hypersonic vehicle powered by indigenously developed critical scramjet propulsion system.

The announcement was my by the Indian defence Minister Sree Rajnath Singh Ji on his twitter account. Sharing this great leap in technology India has achieved he said that with this huge success, all the proven and very advanced technologies are now established to progress to the next phase of weapon development.

Defence Minister congratulated the Indian Defence Research And Development Organisation(DRDO) on this landmark achievement towards realising Indian Prime Minister Sree Narendra Modi’s Vision for self-reliance India (Atmanirbhar Bharat Initiative).

He expresses his happiness and spoke with Indian scientists associated with the project and concentrated them on this great leap in technology for India.

The HSTDV is an unmanned scramjet demonstrator aircraft for hypersonic speed flight. This vehicle been under development to carry and test hypersonic and long-ranged cruise missile. As per several reports this technology will be used in multiple civilian applications like for example to launch a satellite at very less price.

India has fast-tracked the development of hypersonic cruise missiles for future warfare.

The Hypersonic Technology Demonstrator Vehicle(HSTDV) is intended to attain autonomous scramjet flight of about 20 seconds with the help of slide rocket launch booster.

India is also aiming to develop resealable launch vehicles for its space program to cut the cost of launch even further.

So far only a few countries possess this advanced technology, namely the United States, Russia and China. India, Australia and France are in the process of development.

Today’s success will put India an elite group of countries. Kudos to the Indian scientists involved in the program. Much needed boost when the situation at the borders with China and Pakistan deteriorate.
