Former pro-democracy lawmaker Ted Hui will be in exile and fight for Hong Kong’s freedom

Hong Kong’s former pro-democracy lawmaker Ted Hui has just announced that he will be on exile and will not return to Hong Kong following a trip to Denmark. In a Facebook post, the former Democratic Party lawmaker said he has yet to decide where to stay, adding that his goal is to continue the fight for HongKong’s freedom from overseas.

The post confirms days of rumours that Hui might be going into exile.”I have a personal belief: Going into exile isn’t the same as emigration. I will never emigrate overseas, I will never be able to start a life in another place. Hong Kong is my only home,” Ted Hui wrote.

Ted Hui Chi-fung born on 8 June 1982, is a former Democratic Party politician in Hong Kong. He is the Chung Wan constituency member of the Central and Western District Council and was the Legislative Councillor for the Hong Kong Island constituency. He announced his self-exile and withdrawal from the Democratic Party in December 2020.
