India orders Kalyani M4 vehicle worth Rs 177.95 cr as an emergency purchase

In a major boost for the indigenous defence manufacturing sector, India awarded Rs 177.95 crore contract for Bharat Forge Limited. Indian defence manufacturer Bharat Forge Limited with supply the Made In India light armoured vehicles for the Indian Army.

As per the details available in the public domain, the Indian Army contract is beloved to be for 200 Kalyani M4 Vehicles under emergency procurement protocols.

Bharat Forge Limited announced that the company has received an emergency procurement order of Rs 177.95 Cr from the Indian Ministry of Defence to supply Kalyani M4 Vehicles.

The Kalyani M4 is a multi-role platform, designed to meet the specific requirements of armed forces for quick mobility in rough terrain and areas affected by mine and IED threats. It offers best-in-class levels of ballistic and blast protection – up to 50kg TNT side blast or IED/roadside bombs due to its innovative design, built on a flat-floor monocoque hull.

It is intended that the ‘Kalyani M4’ will see service with the Indian Armed Forces very shortly. The Kalyani M4 completed a series of extreme vehicle trials in some of the toughest environments in India.
