India to honor the Galwan Valley Heroes along with other Braveheart on Republic Day 2021

India honour Galwan Valley heroes who sacrificed their life defending surprise Chinese attack. For conspicuous bravery in face of enemy, exemplary leadership, astute professionalism & supreme sacrifice in the line of duty, Colonel Bikumalla SantoshBabu, 16th BATTALION, THE BIHAR REGIMENT is awarded the “MAHA VIR CHAKRA (POSTHUMOUS)”.

The Indian President has approved awards of 455 Gallantry and other Defence decorations to Armed Forces personnel and others on the eve of 72nd Republic Day celebrations: Defence Ministry

Vir Chakra (Posthumous) for Naib Subedar Nuduram Soren, Havildar K Palani, Sepoy Gurtej Singh & Vir Chakra for Havildar Tejinder Singh for conspicious gallantry in the Galwan clash in June 2020.

Along with Galwan Valley Indian Army heroes, Shaurya Chakra (Posthumous) for Major Anuj Sood who was killed in action fighting terrorists and rescuing civilians in Handwara in May 2020.

Kirti Chakra (Posthumous) for Subedar Sanjeev Kumar of the Special Forces for his supreme sacrifice against terrorist infiltrators in April last year. Four other commandos from the unit were also killed in action that day.
