Indian Air Force Swifts Focus on 114 jets mega deal worth Rs 1.3 Lakh Crore

Indian government makes Rs 1.3 Lakh Crore worth deal for 114 fighter jet as a priority. Indian Airforce to sign the deal for 83 made in India Light Combat Tejas in upcoming Aero India 2021. After which the Indian Airforce will focus on yet another game-changing mega-deal for 114 advanced multirole fighter jet deal. The deal is said to cost India Rs 1.3 lakh crore and could be given top priority.

The Indian Cabinet Committee led by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has cleared the procurement of 83 LCA MK1A fighters from HAL. The Rs 50,000 crore deal will be signed during the upcoming Aero India 2021. LAC MK1A is the improved and most advanced version of the indigenous Light Combat Aircraft program. LAC MK1A upgrades were made in the MK1 variant to meet more advanced modern of 21st-century warfare.

Megadeal for 83 LCA MK1A Tejas will replace the four squadrons of vintage Mig-21s. Increasing the strike capability of the Indian Airforce. The 83 LCA Tejas will replace the older Mig-21 fighters. Then the focus will be shifted towards the procurement for 114 Advanced Fight Jet programs for the Indian Air Force, claims the government sources to ANI.

India is facing, immediate threats from two rougher nations, namely Pakistan and China. Indian Air Force is facing a shortage in squadron numbers to face both enemies. The Indian Air Force has issued the Request for Information (RFI) for the mega purchase deal. While the RFI awaits the Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) from the government, the deal to get top priority from now on.

The Multi-Billion dollar deal was worked out to procure 4.5 plus generation fighter jets in large numbers. These fighters are expected to have similar capabilities to the recently acquired Rafale Fighter Jets.

As per our sources, the Indian government is very keen to sign the deal with 114 MRCA jets with generous Transfer of Technology(ToT) clauses. And intent is to make more than 75% of the jets in India. While the first batch could be acquired as an off-the-shelf purchase in small numbers.

Indian Defence Ministry is looking to upgrade its Armed Forces with modern equipment and could be spending more than $100 billion before 2030. India is also focusing on home grew fighter jets programs like Light Combat Aircraft (LAC) Tejas and Advanced Multirole Combat Aircraft (AMCA) program. India operates over 272 Sukoi 30 MKI fighter jets and planing to upgrade these jets with the advanced and latest equipment. Bring them on par with the fifth-generation fighters available in the market.
