Indian Coast Guard intercepted 3 boats carrying 300 kg heroin with AK-47 rifles

Breaking News: In a swift sea-air coordinated operation, ICG intercepted 03 suspected boats off Minicoy Island carrying 5 AK-47 rifles with 1000 live rounds and 300 Kg of Heroin. Boats being escorted to the nearest port for a further joint investigation. Indian Coast Guard said in a statement.

The Indian Coast Guard has successfully averted a major drug transhipment in the Lakshadweep Sea by intercepting three Sri Lankan ships I. 8th march 2021 as well.

The case said to be a bigger success than the November 2020 incident when another boat from Sri Lanka with a consignment of about 1000 crore was apprehended.

The Minicoy Island is the southern-most island of Lakshadweep, situated at a distance of 398 km (215 nautical miles) south-west of Kochi between 8° 15′ and 8° 20′ N latitude and 73° 01′ and 73° OS’ E longitude, having an area of 4.80 sq km.
