Indigenous Ultra Light Howitzer tested Successfully at LPR Khamaria

Amid rising tensions with China and Pakistan, India has fast-tracked several indigenous weapon systems on a war footing.

As a shot in the arms for the private defence sector in India, the firing trail of Ultra Light Howitzer Gun made by Bharat Forge was successful.

The Ultra Lights Howitzers packs 155mm x 39 calibre firepower successfully test-fired at Khamaria in Jabalpur. This indigenously developed howitzer will help Indian troops to deployed heavy artillery firepower at high altitude like the features at Ladakh.

With massive support and inputs from the DRDO experience, the gun has proven its mettle today. The test was successful.

Khamaria, Commandant, Brigadier, Nishchay Raut, while talking to ‘The Hitavada’, informed that development test firing for the prototype of 155 mm x 39 calibre gun was started two days back at LPG Khamaria. Total 24 rounds firing 12 rounds in a day was conducted from the prototype gun. Initially, development level firing from the prototype gun was up to the mark. As per ‘ The Hitavada'(Source).

Now the trail was successful, experts will go through the reports and the results and will be submitted to the concerned authorities for validation.

India has imported the United States made Howitzer M777 to meet the Ultra-lightweight howitzers criteria. These guns are easy to be carried by helicopters and can be deployed at high altitude areas.
