Amidst the Chinese Corona Virus pandemic, China has turned hostile towards its neighbors. From threatening Taiwan, Hong Kong, UK, Australia, Italy, USA to infiltration into the Indian territory. Several countries are revalidating its ties with the Chinese Communist Party regime.
While the questions regarding COVID19 spread are hanging over Beijing’s head. Chinese PLA has become more assertive.
Japan on the other hand decided to step up its response to the Chinese belligerence. The Japans defense forces known as SDF was first established in the year 1954. Till now Japanese defense forces have improved its capabilities with modern weaponry. As per today’s ranking, the JSDF ranked as 4th most lethal military in the world.
Along with its capabilities, the tensions with China and North Korea reignited once again. In September 2015 the Japanese legislations has passed several Laws to its constitution. The Alterations were made so Japan can get involved in actual combat in defense of its security and in defense of its allies.
The New Approach towards China:
Last year due to constant escalations with the assertive Chinese People’s Liberation Army, Japan reviewed its defensive policies. Earlier the was some constrain on how Japan could respond to the intruding Chinese PLAAF fighter jets. As per the review reports, Japan usually scrambles its jets only when Chinese jets breach Japanese airspace.
With newly reviewed policy this will be changed forever. Japan to scramble its jets once Chinese air force jets take off from the nearby Shuimen airbase.
Also instead of regular 2 fighter jets, Japan’s SDF now authorized to scramble 4 fighter jets. To effectively monitor the air movements in the border regions, Air self-defense force aircraft will fly on daily missions from sunrise to sunset. Covering the full spectrum of wast china sea.
The Consequences:
Reviews and tinkers have been made in the Japanese SDF policies to respond as quickly as possible. Chinese fighter jets increased its number of sorties. Attempts are been made to intrude into the Japanese controlled Senkaku island.
These Policy changes made by Japan will allow its defense forces to reach the Senkaku Island even before Chinese fighter jets can reach the area.
The Chinese belligerence towards Japan:
China has developed a vast defense infrastructure facing Japan for decades now. Quite recently Chinese Communist Regime constructing and upgrading an airbase at the hilltop of the Shuimen in Fujian provinces. A Coastal township that japan and the US consider it a major escalation by the Chinese side.
Shuimen airbase has been upgraded to house nearly 24 People’s Liberation Army’s fighter jets. As per the latest satellite images, imported Russian S300 surface to air defense systems are can be seen. Later been upgraded with the HQ-9 air defense systems from 6 years in 2015.
