Koo App gains followers, As speculation of Twitter ban grows in India

Rumors are high that Twitter may be banned in India, most of the people are moving to #KooApp. The dirty games of the US Social Media giant Twitter against India has sparked worldwide controversy. Earlier Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey was caught liking tweets that falsely propagate the issue of Farmers Protest.

Twitter founder Jack Dorsey’s decision to ‘like’ some of the tweets made in support of farmers’ protests have not gone down well with the government which feels the act raises questions over the neutrality of the micro-blogging platform.
“If the founder of Twitter is openly taking sides, it does raise questions over the neutrality of the platform and how it deals with India’s requests related to the subject,” a top source in the government said as per the Time of India.

Indian government earlier identified Twitter accounts that flamed the politically motivated riot on January 26th last month. Twitter at first withheld these accounts as per the government order. But later released these account which was against the Indian government order to avoid riots created due to rumors and false claim.

Once again the Indian government requested Twitter to suspend the accounts which are spreading rumors and flaming the situation. For which Twitter released a statement, which snubbed the Indian government. And advised the Government of India to follow the Indian Law.

Twitter warned the Indian government, it said “These accounts continue to be available outside of India. Because we do not believe that the actions we have been directed to take are consistent with Indian law, and, in keeping with our principles of defending protected speech and freedom of expression, we have not taken any action on accounts that consist of news media entities, journalists, activists, and politicians. To do so, we believe, would violate their fundamental right to free expression under Indian law. We informed MeitY of our enforcement actions today, February 10, 2021. We will continue to maintain a dialogue with the Indian government and respectfully engage with them.”

The actions by Twitter are known to be biassed and lean towards the leftist and Antifa ideology. On which the rumors are flying high about its ban in the country.

Due to the speculation and dissatisfaction for Twitter among the Indians, has made a new indigenous app known as “Koo App” has gained more followers recently.

Koo App, a micro-blogging platform is fast emerging as an alternative to Twitter in India as many Ministries and government departments are making a beeline to join the Made-In-India App.

The Koo App is a decisive step towards the realization of AtmaNirbhar Bharat in the digital space, making the intentions of the government clear. Its rising popularity gives a good indication of the nation’s mood for an alternative platform to Twitter.

Several Indian legislators have joined the Twitter replacement app called “Koo App”. Here are some of the list of Ministers who recently joined the Indian microblogging site ‘Koo App’.

Union Commerce & Railways Minister Piyush Goyal, Law & IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Members of Parliament Tejasvi Surya and Shobha Karandlaje, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa have already joined the homegrown App.
