15 Saudi military commanders killed in Yemeni rocket attack

The Yemeni army and air force last night targeted Saudi coalition positions in parts of central Ma'rib province in central Yemen, according to the International Section of the Middle East News Agency.

A Yemeni army spokesman said at least eight Saudi military commanders had been killed and several others wounded in a rocket attack on Saudi positions in Marb province.

The Yemeni army and air force last night targeted Saudi coalition positions in parts of central Ma’rib province in central Yemen, according to the International Section of the Middle East News Agency.

Al-Masira news website quoted Yahya Sari, a spokesman for the Yemeni army, as saying that the country’s air force has targeted a joint operations center at the Tadawin military base with a Badr ballistic missile.

According to him, more than 15 Saudi military commanders were killed and wounded in the operation, including eight commanders as earlier reported.

Meanwhile, a number of Saudi social media activists gave the names of those killed in the attack.

The Badr-1 210 mm is a Yemeni military, self-propelled, multiple rocket launcher; a type of rocket artillery, used by Houthis. It features a twin tube launcher mounted on a 6×6 truck.

On 25 August 2019, according to Aljazeera, Houthis claimed that they fired as many as 10 Badr-1 rockets at an airport in southwest Saudi Arabia. The Saudi-led coalition forces said that they had intercepted at least 6 rockets targeted at the civilian population in Jizan.

On 28 October 2018, a guided version called the Badr-1P with a range of 150 kilometers (93 mi) and an accuracy of 3 meters (10 ft) was announced.
