From Meow to Roar, Prime Minister Modi’s New India

From Meow to Roar, New India takes the fight against the enemies. Takes the Battle deep into the enemy’s territory.

The change in the mindset of New India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. India’s recent action towards China and Pakistan shows the Change in the mindset and tactics. No more softballs, but strike them like a thunderstorm. Both militarily and diplomatically. The tactics put your hostile enemy to sleep with a knockout blow.

How India’s behaviour has changed:

How India has changed its behaviour? An important subject which must be analysed by many countries. Envoys of many countries analyse the behaviour and the pattern of a nation’s leadership for successful diplomacy. China and Pakistan have made a terrible mistake of not doing that. They thought know India much better, they have fought wars and have hurt the country. But the blunder was not to gauge the nerves of the ‘New India’.

New India is different from a decade ago. The New India is bold, will respond to the expansionist Chinese People’s Liberation Army forces. No unilateral change of borders along LAC will be permitted by force. India has not only stood up to China militarily but is also pushing them back economically and diplomatically as well. The bold operation which took place on August 29-30th 2020 on both sides of Pangong Tso was a signal to China. During the night India overwhelmed the Chinese invaders in the eastern Ladakh sectors. The operation made the Chinese government call for a talk for a peaceful resolution.

Previous Indian government were pussyfooting with the critical defence infrastructure developments along the Chinese border. Just to not offend the Chinese. The Congress government always made sure China is not hurt. For decades infrastructure development were ignored along the Line of Actual Control, borders with China.

But the mindset has changed for good, under the new leadership of Prime Minister Modi of BJP. Indian Army brass insists, past 5 years saw a massive boost to border infrastructure development. Which helped the Indian Army to deploy war machines, move men and material at a lighting speed. DS-DBO road is a case in point. India’s strong resolve to safeguard our territory.

Not just the defensive posture has changed in India. From a Surgical strike after the Uri terror attack to Balakot airstrikes after Pulwama to a massive offensive military operation in both North and South of Pangong Tso on Aug 29-30 after Chinese moving to Finger 4 in Apr-May 2020. India’s message was to take the battle to dominate the adversary on the ground. This is a big mindset change.

Has status quo ante been restored? No. But neither have Ops come to an end. India has made it clear to the Chinese Communist Expansionist regime. The ties between India and China cannot improve if borders are not calm. If China wants economic ties to improve then restore the status quo ante. Chinese App ban, selling military hardware to the Philippines an important signal to China. The mindset change was much needed. As previous government led by the Congress Party were so much scared of China.

The four Super Powers India, Japan, Australia and the United States groupings ‘QUAD’ may not be a military alliance but is a mechanism to put expansionist forces on notice. Steps India takes are followed up by others. App ban may be followed by other more effective measures. On the ground, military infrastructure development in border areas is being speeded up. The reason for which China invaded the Indian Territory. But was beaten back black and blue by the Indian offensive. After which Chinese forces retreated from the region.

China should never have been in the power, telecom, railways sectors of India. Given the overt and covert hostile actions and it should be ejected. Better late than never. India must also consider undertaking Quid pro quo action in cyberspace to match the Chinese.

The Indian actions at the Balakot and Pangong are ample proof of India’s strong resolve and change in mindset.

A strong message should go from every Indian. From the Government and the people. As far as possible, an effort can and should be made to replace Made in China equipment with Made in Taiwan, Made in Japan and the most important ‘Made in India’ products. Atmanirbhar Bharat pushes a must by one and all to keep India First. The Mindset has changed.

Of course, there is a military disparity. And it is a fact that China is both militarily & economically stronger. Yet Indian recent military operation on the Chinese Army forced an expansionist power to pull back. ‘Salami slicing’ of Indian territory has been on for decades. India in the past chose not to react to it. But not any more. India began to roar!

Nathu La 1967 & Sumdorong Chu 1986 are honourable exceptions when India responded militarily and both times China retreated. But subsequently, India didn’t focus on building border infrastructure & strong forces to counter expansionist China. Doklam 2017 and Ladakh 2020 are eye-openers. The change and resolve to fight the Chinese with military might was evident. China missed the plot, never understood that these actions were for real and not a gimmick as they do.

Right now it is game on. Forces deployed on the ground and both diplomatic and economic countermeasures are being taken. Chinese cyber and Info wars are and will be a cause for concern but India like on the south bank of Pangong Tso must take similar and effective countermeasures to checkmate the Chinese.

China will use its “useful idiots’ in Pakistan or elsewhere to weaken India’s resolve. Strikes in factories, unrest on streets adversely impact India’s growth trajectory but India must bash on regardless. As part of a coherent strategy ‘expose and exploit’ the enemy’s vulnerability.
