DRDO hands over multiple defense project to the private sectors for manufacturing

In a major push for indigenous defense sectors, India’s leading Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has made many of its projects available for local industries and defense manufacturing units. The move is set by the most crucial development in India’s aim to cut down the defense system import by $2 billion.

As per the sources, many DRDO developed armament systems, namely 155 mm X 52 Cal Advance Towed Artillery Gun System (ATAGS), Mechanical Mine Layer/Self Propelled (MML– SP), and Prachand Anti-Tank Munition have been handed over to the industry for production.

Other technologies that have been transferred for production by the Indian industry are Individual Under Water Breathing Apparatus (I,UWBA), Basic WhAP 8×8 & Add-on Armour for WhAP and 4 MW Diesel Engine Infrared Signature Suppression System.
