“Proud & historic day for India as the reincarnated #Vikrant sails for her maiden sea trials today, in the 50th year of her illustrious predecessor’s key role in victory in the 1971 war
Largest & most complex warship ever to be designed & built in India.
Many more will follow…” The Indian Navy tweeted. This is indeed a huge leg up for the Indian Navy’s firepower and capabilities to strike deep at the heart of the enemies.

INS VIKRANT :

Designed and built in India for India – INS Vikrant is a true Atmanirbharta (Self Reliance). This also showcases India’s maturity and capacity in Naval shipbuilding. The integration of technologies to precisely match what the Indian Navy is looking for is outstanding. The Sea trials of India’s Indigenous Aircraft carrier ‘Vikrant’ (IAC-1) have been initiated today.

During the ‘basin trial’ in Nov 2020, the propulsion and power generation systems of the ship in the harbor were tested. Now the focus would be on the move component of the ship.

The engines onboard the first Indigenous Aircraft Carrier (IAC) being constructed at Kochi have been fired up. The Indian Navy is starting on the next step of basin trials, with expectations that the warship would be ready for operations by 2022.

The long-delayed project, which was to be completed by 2018. Is now back on track, with senior officers saying that the 37,500-tonne aircraft carrier will initially operate MiG 29K fighters and could also feature indigenous combat aircraft.

The carrier, the largest-ever warship to be constructed in an Indian yard, is now in its final phase of construction and the Navy could consider operating a limited number of the maritime version of the Light Combat Aircraft once it gets fit for service, said people aware of the matter.
