US Space Force claims Russia deployed armed satellites in low earth orbit

What is US Space Force?

The United States Space Force is the space service branch of the U.S. Armed Forces, one of the eight U.S. uniformed services, and the world's first and currently only independent space force.

Space War between the United States NATO allies and Russian Federation inching closer than it seems. Space superiority is set to dominate the future course of the war with capabilities to destroy an enemy’s satellite. The United States of America has launched a new force known as the ‘Space Force’. The US space for a is said to have both offensive and defensive capabilities in space.

At the same time, the Russians are not leaving any chances. Russia has revived its space force program which was started during the Soviet Union era. The program has been given top priority under President Putin.

US Space Force claims Russia has deployed ‘nesting doll’ armed satellites in the low earth orbit which are equipped to destroy dozens of US military satellites in the event of a war. These are not allegations that have rattled the Americans. In 2020 Russia has tested a space-based weapon system that can be hidden inside a large orbiting satellite and emerge to fire projectiles, lasers or microwave beams to destroy US satellites.

The Space Force is the smallest U.S. armed service, consisting of 4,840 personnel and operating 77 spacecraft. Major spacecraft and systems include the Global Positioning System constellation, military satellite communications constellations, Boeing X-37B spaceplane, U.S. missile warning system, U.S. space surveillance network, and the Satellite Control Network. Under the Goldwater–Nichols Act, the Space Force is responsible for organizing, training, and equipping space forces, which are then presented to the unified combatant commands, predominantly to United States Space Command, for operational employment.

The American military calls them “nesting dolls”, named after the Russian matryoshka painted wooden dolls that fit inside each other. It is believed that the weapon may be a kind of orbital “shotgun”, packed with metal pellets that can be spray-fired at satellites.

Experts believe that the US supremacy in space will be challenged China and Russia. Both are working together to cripple US Space Force. Which these as a major threat

The U.S. Space Force traces its roots to the beginning of the Cold War, with the first Army Air Forces space programs starting in 1945. In 1954, the Western Development Division, under General Bernard Schriever, was established as the first dedicated space organization within the U.S. Armed Forces
