India successfully test-fires BrahMos supersonic cruise missile

Amidst an increase in tensions at the Line of Actual Control (LAC), India has successfully test-fired a supersonic BrahMos cruise missile with a 400-km range.

India’s successful test firing of the latest version of BrahMos mark a new milestone for the Indian military. Now the missile can hit targets at 400 km range. Which is 100 km more than the earlier models. Giving a massive advantage for Indian military units.

The test was carried out under the PJ-10 project of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) as per which the missile was launched with an indigenous booster (IT).

Expanding the envelope further beyond 300km, India aims to arm its future warships with Brahmos. In service, warships will also be fitted with new variants of BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles when they come for a mid-life upgrade.

Apart from the Indian Navy, the Indian Army and Indian Airforce also inducted BrahMos in large numbers.
