Taiwan shoots down suspected Chinese drone

Taiwanese air defence has shot down a suspected Chinese drone. Taiwan’s Kinmen Defense Command said it has shot down an unknown civilian drone near Kinmen. As per the sources, the action was taken after the usual protocol to repel the drone failed to achieve the goal. This is the first time that shots fired by the Taiwanese army have shot down a suspected Chinese drone.

Reportedly, in the previous two days, Taiwan’s Kinmen Defense Command has fired warning shots four times when four civilian drones from the Chinese PLA intruded the airspace near Taiwan’s outlying island Kinmen.

The rising frequency of China’s grey zone tactics has been characterized by Taiwanese officials as part of Beijing’s “cognitive warfare”.

Which aims at damaging the image of the Taiwanese military and people’s trust in the government. Earlier the Taiwanese President urged Taiwan’s military to refrain from initiating any moves that would escalate the tension. But she also emphasized that it doesn’t mean the Taiwanese military can’t respond resolutely.
